Slavnostní galavečer The Game Awards 2023 je za námi a my už známe vítěze celkem třiceti dvou kategorií včetně toho nejhonosnějšího ocenění Hry roku. To si pro sebe ukořistil titul Baldur's Gate 3, který dominoval i v dalších kategoriích, jako je Komunitní podpora, Nejlepší RPG a Nejlepší multiplayer. Získal dokonce i vítězství v kategorii Hlas hráčů, o níž rozhodovala herní komunita hlasováním na webových stránkách The Game Awards. Kromě Hlasu hráčů vítěze jednotlivých kategorií určuje porota složená z osobností herního průmyslu. Ti svými hlasy z 90 % rozhodují o výsledcích. Zbylých 10 % padá na divácké hlasování.
Konkurence na Hru roku letos byla opravdu silná, včetně titulu Alan Wake 2. Ten neodchází s prázdnou a odnáší si cenu za Nejlepší režii, Nejlepší příběh a Nejlepší výtvarný projev. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom je Nejlepší akční adventurou a Super Mario Bros. Wonder zase Nejlepší rodinnou hrou. Zbylí nominovaní na Hru roku, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 a Resident Evil 4, pro sebe bohužel nedokázali ukořistit nic.
Zajímavý je i výsledek kategorie Nejočekávanější hry roku 2024. Vedle Hadese II, Tekkena 8, Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth a Star Wars Outlaws se fanoušci nejvíce těší na Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
